Croatian former general Slobodan Praljak stands prior to the start of his appeal judgement at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on November 29, 2017 at the Hague international court, in the court’s final verdict for war crimes committed during the break-up of Yugoslavia.
Praljak, 72, appeared to drink poison seconds after judges upheld his 20-year sentence. He shouted out angrily „Praljak is not a criminal“ then drank from a small brown bottle. The hearing was quickly suspended as his lawyer shouted out „my client says he has taken poison.“
